Sourcing in Vietnam

In todays market, the ever changing landscape of sourcing can be complicated and require heavy investment of time and money. At Amplify Trade, we work with our partners the US to help them source products they need. 

We offer a few services that help companies across the US source from Vietnam. Many of our clients have various needs, from reducing risk on supply from China, diversifying their supply chain, reducing costs, taking advantage of trade and taxation, to establishing a foundation for future expansion.

The basics of our Sourcing program

We partner with many factories here in Vietnam to bring semi-finished, intermediary, and even finished goods to the US market. We support in various ways such as, match making, research, RFP/RFQ management, due diligence and compliance support as well as export logistics.

Things to be prepared for:

  • Be prepared to interact in different time zones and rely on communication via online platforms such as Zoom, Skype and email.
  • Know your goals and expectations.  Often needs are vague, and expectations are high. Setting obtainable objectives is critical.
  • Have all your technical specifications ready, factories will need them in order to provide quotations.
  • Expect MOQ’s(Minimum Order Quantity)
  • Having international experience is very helpful, but not mandatory, however making sure you are ready is essential for success. It may take time to get your prepared or bumps at first. That’s normal!
  • Its imperative to incorporate a sample phase to ensure the finished quality is what you want. 
  • Depending on products, know that there can be upfront costs such as sample costs or even costs for molds. Mostly these are born by the buyer, but in some cases it can be shared.
  • Understand Inco-Terms, the majority of factories work FOB in Vietnam.

The Process

Our process begins with you, and your products.

  • First we begin by the initial vetting of our partnership. This includes the scope, terms, desired outcomes and a dive into your products and history.
  • Second we dive into the ability for you to execute sales in international markets. This revolves around meeting deliveries and logistics that may be involved, all the way to payment and contract T&C’s, and ongoing support with your soon to be customers.
  • Next, we like to have an intensive training session with you, on your product(s). This training will then be filtered down to our sourcing team for implementation.
  • We generally use your in house materials, however do often request them to have your company information removed.
  •  We then flush out all the communication channels and contact points we need to have. In general we have 1 contact point for you.
  • Once training and communication is finalized, we then work with you to create a Customer Needs Assessment (CNA), or script, that helps with the initial talks with prospective sources for your needs.
  • From here we then begin hunting down the proper manufactures for your products.

  • Match Making Service: We prepare a list of factories we believe fits your needs, as well as an introduction email to decision makers. From there you move forward to close the sourcing deal, and we are there to support or help. We keep in communication throughout the whole process to ensure no issues are present.
  • Costs: Commission Based, potential retainer depending on the sales cycle and product.
  • Full Sourcing: We take on all research, RFP’s, RFQ’s on your behalf. We also can support in Quality Control, warehousing, exportation of the products to the US if you don’t have the capabilities. 
  • Costs: Tend to be a combination of Commission and Retainer depending on the scope.
